Tips and Tricks

Before we get to the list of easy treats for your furry friend, I have some quick tips for you. Dog lovers, please pay attention to them.

  • Before you make any homemade treats for your pet, be sure they do not have any allergies or food issues. You don’t want a nice treat for your god to turn into a hefty vet bill.
  • Test out the treat by first giving the dog a small portion of the treats. Wait a few days to make sure they don’t have any problems digesting the food or adverse reactions.
  • Store the treats in a plastic freezer bag in the freezer to extend the shelf life of the treats, and help keep them fresh for 3-4 months.
  • Do not serve your dog treats that are freezer-burnt, have any signs of mold, or are past the recommended shelf life. The ingredients might have gone bad, which can cause stomach issues for your pet.
  • Feel free to take any of these recipes and change them up to make them your own, and fit the preferences of your dog. Just make sure any replacements you use are still dog-friendly ingredients.
  • Sweeten with fruit. Never use any kind of artificial sweetener when you make a sweet treat for your dogs.
