Celebrating Dogs
All of my hounds both present and past. I currently have whippets. A whippet is in the AKC sighthound group. Before my first whippet, my dogs were mixed breed aka mutt or hound dog.
Callie joined our family in June 2024. She's a gorgeous red brindle whippet and such a sweetie! Adopting another dog was the last thing I ever thought would happen. But, in an unexpected and surprising turn of events, we adopted a rescue that needed a good home. Callie's … [Read more...] about Callie, Our Second Rescue Whippet
Milo's progress on overcoming his fears had stalled. Getting a big brother for him helped somewhat. Unfortunately, his big brother Zephyr was not as playful as we hoped. I started searching for whippet breeders and available whippets. I filled out a form on one breeder's website … [Read more...] about Luke Windrunner
Shortly after we got Milo, we thought it best for him to have a companion. Perhaps it would help him overcome his fears. Plus it's a great thing to have more than one dog. We thought an adult whippet would help teach him fun whippety ways. I contacted a whippet rescue … [Read more...] about Zephyr, Our Rescue Whippet
There I was, waiting in the emergency room. I was experiencing the worst headache of my life. It had started one day and didn't stop. My doctor sent me to the ER to get a CAT scan since I had no history of migraines. To pass the time while waiting, I got out my phone and checked … [Read more...] about Milo Captured My Heart
My husband gave me two whippet puppies for my 40th birthday. It was literally my whippet dream come true. The puppies were littermates and they were the litter. Lexie was the first one I saw when I came home and was surprised with them. She became our energizer whippet because of … [Read more...] about Lexie, Our Energizer Whippet
Two whippet puppies were given to me for my 40th birthday. It was my whippet dream come true. They were littermates. Actually, they were the litter. I'm writing about Trixie first because she was born first. She was a small yet mighty, strong-minded whippet. In her mind, she was … [Read more...] about Trixie, Our Strong-Minded Whippet
Our first whippet, Devo, had passed too early at only four years old. Right after, I was on a mission to find another one. This time I sought after breeders instead of looking through newspaper ads. I found one and made a call. She had one available. She had intended on showing … [Read more...] about Tiger, Our Miracle Dog
Devo was our first whippet. Additionally, he was our first full breed dog. What made me decide to switch from mixed breeds to a whippet? It all started one evening when we went to a party at one of my husband's co-worker's house. I looked over and saw the most beautiful dog I had … [Read more...] about Devo, Our First Whippet
Sometimes getting a dog is planned out. Other times it is completely spontaneous. How Pancho came to join our family was spontaneous for sure. We had never thought about having more than one dog at a time. Then one day it all changed and we got our first pack dog. Our dog … [Read more...] about Pancho, Our First Pack Dog
So there we were - in our very own home. Sure it was a trailer however it was about a million times better than the roach-infested apartment we lived in after getting married. We had just lost Dusty, our first family dog. Then, as fate would have it, our neighbor's dog had … [Read more...] about Crystal, Our Sweet Gentle Dog
Way back in 1983, I got married. Shortly before the wedding, my dog Rowdy was run over by a car. It was the only sad part of an exciting time. After the wedding, we started our new life in an apartment. We soon discovered it was terribly roach infested. That led to us moving to … [Read more...] about Dusty, Our First Family Dog
Things did not feel quite right after my first dog Butch was gone. The house had an emptiness. I missed having my dog buddy, especially during summer. I lived on a small street with only 2 nearby friends to play with. They would visit their mom for weeks while school was out. I'd … [Read more...] about Rowdy, My Second Dog
Butch was my first dog. I have no idea when or where my parents got him. All I know is that he is a part of my earliest memories. He was my buddy. I remember many times of sitting on the steps of the front porch with him beside me. He'd follow me around everywhere. I loved him. … [Read more...] about Butch, My First Dog
