Treat your pup to bright red, sweet, refreshing treats that are good for them, too! Homemade Frozen Berry Dog Treats with yogurt are perfect for a hot summer’s day or throughout the year.

Is your fur baby ready for the summer heat? Luke and Milo were blessed with short coats, and they love sleeping in a warm sunspot. But when the heat gets to be too much, I love giving them something cold to help hydrate them and cool them off. And these treats are perfect!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

When you make homemade treats, you know exactly what’s in them. So you know that your dog won’t get a reaction from something funky.

These homemade dog treats are made with natural ingredients that are like sweet little vitamins. You’ll love sharing them with your furry friend on hot summer days. These frozen treats are just what they need to cool off.

Benefits of Berries for Dogs

The berries in this frosty treat will support your dog’s nutritional needs. They are a natural way to sweeten treats without using artificial sweeteners.

These antioxidant rich berries help your dog prevent disease. Plus, they are high in vitamin C, which helps strengthen your dog’s immune system. These simple ingredients pack a powerful punch!

Other than the berries, the Greek yogurt also has healthy fats. The fatty acids are good for brain and gut health. This is a fun way to share a refreshing treat that isn’t just sweet and cold but also a healthy one.

Ingredients

Here’s a handy list of what you need to make the treats. The exact ingredient amounts are in the printable recipe card below.

  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Strawberries
  • Plain Greek Yogurt – a great source of protein, calcium, and probiotics.
  • Water – For blending the raspberries and thinning the yogurt

You probably have all the kitchen items to make the treats. Using frozen dog treat molds makes them cute. You can use ice cube trays if you don’t have molds.

Ingredient Notes and Recipe Variations

Using low fat plain yogurt is best because foods and treats high in fat may cause pancreatitis.

You can substitute berries with any dog-safe fruits.

Add a tablespoon of ground flax seeds or chia seeds for extra fiber.

Serving Size

How many of these treats should you give your canine companion? That depends on the amount of food you gave your pet to eat that day and the size of your dog. Large dogs can consume more than smaller dogs.

It also depends on the size of the treat which can vary depending on the molds you use to make them. The nutrition information below is for 1 treat in a batch of 16 treats.

Make sure you don’t exceed the recommended amount for your dog. That amount changes for each dog breed, size, and activity level. You can use your judgment or consult with your veterinarian regarding how many treats are right for your dog.

Also, keep in mind when adding new foods to your dog’s diet to start with small amounts to ensure your dog has no allergic or adverse reactions.

How to Store Them and How Long They Last

Store the treats in a plastic freezer bag or freezer-safe airtight container in the freezer. They will last up to 3 months.

Can people eat these treats?

Yes, absolutely! All of the ingredients are safe for human consumption. They are tasty frozen treats for both dogs and people.
