Why You’ll Love This Recipe

There’s something so rewarding about baking homemade treats for your dog with fresh fruit that makes tails wag. These mango dog treats are a simple way to show your pup some love. Here’s why they’re sure to become a favorite:

Wholesome Ingredients – These treats are made with real fruit and pantry staples. There are no preservatives, fillers, or weird stuff you can’t pronounce.

Easy to Make – Just mix, roll, cut, and bake. If you can make cookies, you can make these dog treats.

Simple to Customize – You can easily swap ingredients to match your dog’s preferences or dietary needs.

Economical – Homemade treats cost way less than the fancy ones you find at pet stores, and you get more of them!

Great for Summer – Fresh mango is at its peak in summer, making these treats a perfect warm-weather snack.

Ingredients and What They Bring to the Treats

These treats are made with simple ingredients that work together to create a flavorful cookie your dog will love:

  • Mango – Naturally sweet, juicy, and full of tropical flavor that shines in every bite.
  • Peanut Butter – Adds richness, protein, and makes the treats extra tempting.
  • Honey – A touch of natural sweetness that pairs perfectly with mango.
  • Egg – Binds everything together and adds a boost of protein.
  • Rice Flour – A gentle flour that gives structure without gluten.
  • Water – Helps bring the dough together and keeps the texture just right.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions

When making these treats, there are some things to keep in mind and simple swaps you can make:

  • Only use peanut butter that does not contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
  • You can substitute peanut butter with almond butter or sunflower seed butter, just make sure they’re xylitol-free too.
  • Instead of mango, try using apple or pear for a different fruit flavor.
  • To make rice flour, blend uncooked rice in a blender or food processor until it has a fine flour-like consistency. One cup of rice makes about ¾ cup of flour.
  • You can substitute rice flour with oat flour, all-purpose flour, or a 50-50 mix of all-purpose and whole wheat flour.
  • Avoid coconut flour because it absorbs too much moisture and will throw off the dough’s consistency.

Equipment Needed

You probably have all the kitchen items for making the treats. You can use any cookie cutter, but dog treat cutters make them extra cute.

How to Make Mango Dog Treats

These tropical fruit dog treats are as easy as making cookies. Here’s how:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Peel and dice the mango, then measure ½ cup into a medium bowl.
  3. Add peanut butter, water, honey, and rice flour. Stir to combine.
  4. Add the egg and mix until a dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ⅓-inch thick.
  6. Cut out treats with a cookie cutter. Reroll scraps and continue cutting until all the dough is used.
  7. Place the cutouts on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes.
  8. Let the treats cool completely on the baking sheet before serving.

How to Store the Treats and How Long They Last

Store the treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will last up to 5 days.

For longer storage, you can freeze the treats in a freezer-safe container or plastic freezer bag for up to 3 months.

Can people eat these dog treats?

Yep, they sure can! All of the ingredients are safe for human consumption. These would be great for anyone who enjoys a lightly sweet and fruity cookie, especially those watching their sugar intake. Give one a taste and see what you think!
