  • Cooked turkey – Provides lean protein and gives the treats their savory flavor.

  • Frozen chopped green beans – Add texture and extra nutrients.
  • Egg – Helps bind the ingredients together and adds protein.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions

You can easily adjust this recipe depending on the ingredients you have available.

  • Turkey – You can substitute chicken, roast beef, bison, or lamb.
  • Sweet Potato – Butternut squash works well as a substitute.
  • Green Beans – Broccoli or zucchini can be used instead.

Equipment Needed

You likely have the kitchen items you need for making the treats. A food processor helps blend the ingredients into a dough, and silicone molds make shaping the treats easy.

You can use any silicone mold, but bone and paw-shaped molds make the treats extra cute.

How to Make Turkey and Sweet Potato Dog Treats

Making these treats is simple and only takes a few steps.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place a silicone mold on a baking sheet for stability.
  2. Place the turkey, sweet potato, and oat flour in a food processor. Process until a coarse dough forms.
  3. Add the green beans and egg and process until everything is combined.
  4. Spoon the dough into the silicone molds and press it in firmly.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
  6. Allow the treats to cool completely in the mold before removing them.

Alternative Method: Rolled and Cut Treats

If you prefer using cookie cutters instead of molds:

  1. Place the dough on a flat surface.
  2. Roll it out until it is about ¼ to ½ inch thick.
  3. Use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
  4. Re-roll the scraps and cut until all the dough is used.
  5. Place the cutouts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  6. Bake as directed above.

How to Store the Treats and How Long They Last

Store the treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will last up to 5 days when refrigerated.

For longer storage, freeze them in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.

Can people eat these treats?

Yes, they sure can! All the ingredients are safe for human consumption. Give one a try and see if you like it.
