Making homemade dog treats is such a fun and rewarding way to show your pup some love, especially when it means whipping up something cold and creamy for hot days! These frozen banana dog treats are a summertime favorite around here, and once you see how easy they are to make, they’ll become one of your go-to recipes.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

Making your own dog treats means you get to choose exactly what goes into them. It’s a simple way to give your dog something wholesome, and it feels good knowing you’re giving them the best. These are just a few of the reasons this recipe will be a favorite:

Wholesome ingredients – You only need three simple ingredients. There are no preservatives, fillers, or mystery stuff like in many store-bought treats.

Easy to make – There’s nothing fancy here! Just toss everything into a blender, pour the mix into molds, and pop them in the freezer.

Customizable – Want to switch it up? You can add in other fruits or swap ingredients to suit your dog’s taste and dietary needs.

Perfect for summer – These frosty little bites are just the thing to help your pup stay cool when the weather heats up.

Super cute in bone shapes – Using paw or bone-shaped silicone molds makes these treats extra fun and adorable, because your dog deserves cute snacks too!

Ingredients

All it takes is three simple ingredients to make these chilly banana bites for your pup. Each one brings something special to the mix:

  • Bananas – Naturally sweet and packed with potassium and fiber.
  • Plain Greek yogurt – Adds creaminess and a dose of probiotics and protein.
  • Peanut butter – A classic dog favorite that brings flavor and richness.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions

When making these treats, there are a few things to keep in mind—and a few easy swaps you can make:

  • Avoid peanut butter with xylitol. Xylitol is a sugar substitute that’s toxic to dogs, so always double-check the label.
  • Swap the peanut butter. You can use almond butter or sunflower seed butter, just make sure they’re unsweetened and xylitol-free.
  • Dairy-free option. Use unsweetened coconut milk or coconut cream instead of yogurt. (Avoid cream of coconut because it has added sugar.)
  • Mix up the fruit. You can replace some of the banana with other dog-safe fruits your pup loves. Check out this list of fruits dogs can eat.

Equipment Needed

You won’t need any fancy tools to whip these up, just your regular kitchen basics. You’ll need a high-powered blender for mixing everything until smooth. Ice cube trays work great, but paw and bone shaped silicone molds make the treats way cuter.

How to Make Frozen Banana Dog Treats

Making these treats is as easy as blending, pouring, and freezing! Here’s how to do it:

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth. The mixture should be creamy with no chunks.
  3. Pour into silicone molds or ice cube trays.
  4. Place in the freezer for at least 1 hour or until solid.
  5. Once frozen, remove from molds and transfer to a freezer-safe container or bag.

How to Store the Treats and How Long They Last

After freezing, pop the treats out of the molds and store them in a plastic freezer bag or an airtight freezer-safe container. Keep them in the freezer, and they’ll last up to 3 months.

Can people eat these treats?

Yes! All the ingredients are human-friendly, so go ahead and try one if you’re curious. They’re basically mini banana peanut butter frozen yogurt bites!
