- Baking Powder: Helps give the treats a little rise.
- Sea Salt: Just a pinch to give a touch of electrolytes.
- Unsweetened Oat Milk: Adds moisture to the dough and keeps the treats dog-friendly.
- Coconut Oil: A healthy fat that’s great for your dog’s coat and skin.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
Have you heard confusing information about cinnamon? Let me reassure you. Cinnamon is safe for dogs in small amounts.
If you can’t find oat flour at the store, just blend uncooked old-fashioned oats in a food processor or blender until they reach a flour-like consistency. One cup of oats makes about ¾ cup of flour.
You can substitute oat flour with rice flour, all-purpose flour, or a mix of all-purpose and whole wheat flour. Avoid using whole wheat flour on its own, as it’s too dense, and steer clear of coconut flour, which absorbs too much moisture.
How to Make Cinnamon Roll Dog Treats
Making these treats is easier than you might think! Here are the steps and some photos to help you along the way.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Combine oat flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- In a separate bowl, mix oat milk, melted coconut oil, and egg until smooth.
- Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients to form a dough.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, about ⅓ to ½ inch thick.
- Drizzle honey over the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon.
- Roll the dough into a log and slice into ½ to ¾-inch rounds.
- Arrange the slices on your baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes. Cool completely before frosting.
- For the frosting, mix cream cheese with oat milk until smooth and drizzle or spread over the treats.
Serving Size
Treats are just that – treats! Keep them in moderation as part of your dog’s daily caloric intake.
One treat per day is a good starting point but adjust based on your dog’s size, breed, and activity level.
When introducing new foods, start with small amounts and watch for any reactions.
How to Store the Treats and How Long They Last
How you store the treats depends on whether they are frosted or unfrosted. Please follow these guidelines:
- Unfrosted Treats: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- Frosted Treats: Store in the fridge for up to 1 week. If frosted, put a sheet of parchment paper between the layers.
- Freezing: Freeze the treats in a freezer-safe container or bag for up to 3 months. It’s best to freeze them without frosting. Thaw before serving, at room temperature if unfrosted or in the fridge if frosted.
Can people eat these treats?
Absolutely! While they’re designed for dogs, the ingredients are perfectly safe for humans. They’re a great low-sugar option, so feel free to sneak a taste and decide if these are your new favorite snack too!
