Chicken Veggie Pizza for Dogs is a tasty treat for your furry friend! The homemade crust, sweet potato pizza sauce, chicken, and vegetables are dog-friendly and healthy too. This DIY pizza for dogs is loaded with yummy toppings.

This is a healthier alternative to pizza from a restaurant. It’s a fun recipe that will give your pup the daily value of fiber and essential nutrients.

Making Pizza for Dogs

Instead of sharing a pizza you ordered for delivery, make your furry friend some pup-friendly pizzas. This is a great recipe with lots of vitamin C.

This pizza dogs recipe doesn’t have any tomato sauces on it (because it is rough on your pup’s stomach). You can make pizza dog treats with this recipe, too – just make it smaller, like mini pizzas.

If your canine companions are lactose-intolerant, don’t add any mozzarella or cheddar cheese. You are their pet parent, so only add ingredients that you know your pup loves.

Why This is the Best Pizza for Dogs Recipe

This pizza might take a little extra time to make, but it is worth it! It’s made with healthy dog-friendly ingredients you can find at regular grocery stores.

The pizza dough is made with oat flour instead of all-purpose flour, which is fantastic if your dog is sensitive or allergic to gluten. Even though it might be safe for them, do not let your dog eat a piece of dough before you bake it.

The yummy sauce is made with sweet potato. Tomato sauce and tomato paste are not good for dogs.

I also added a lot of delicious dog-friendly toppings. Low-fat mozzarella cheese, plain chicken, and fresh vegetables make up the bulk of what I used.

Why not give regular pizza to dogs? There are a lot of factors and some ingredients may be harmful to canines. Read more about pizza and dogs.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions

In case you want to customize this pizza, here are a few ideas:

  • If you want to make an organic pizza, you will need to use organic ingredients.
  • If you don’t have oat flour, blend dry rolled oats in a blender or food processor until it has the consistency of a powder.
  • For a pumpkin pizza, substitute the sweet potato with plain pumpkin puree.
  • You can use any dog-safe vegetables for the toppings. Do not use garlic, onion, or tomato.
  • Omit the cheese if your dog is lactose intolerant.
  • Omit the meat if you want a vegetarian pizza.
  • Substitute the chicken with cooked turkey, ground turkey, lean ground beef, or ground pork. Pepperoni, ham, or other processed meats have too much salt and other ingredients not good for dogs.

Serving Size

How much pizza should you give your dog? That depends on what else they ate that day because you need to consider their entire calorie intake.

It also depends on your dog’s size. Small pets require fewer calories than larger ones. Maintaining a dog’s healthy weight is very important. Keep that in mind when feeding your dog any treats in addition to their dog food.

Also, dogs shouldn’t eat too many carbs, even the healthy ones on this pizza. For this reason, I suggest only giving your spoiled hound one slice.

How to Store

Store leftover pizza in an airtight container or wrap it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil.

How long does dog pizza last?

This pizza for dogs will last up to 4 days in the refrigerator or 3 months in the freezer.

Can humans eat this pizza for dogs?

Why yes, absolutely! Everything in this pizza is safe for human consumption.
