If your dog turns up their nose at plain ol’ water, it might be time to jazz up their hydration game! This homemade blueberry water is a fun and healthy way to encourage your pup to drink more fluids. It’s super easy to make, loaded with antioxidants from fresh blueberries, and makes hydration a whole lot more exciting for your furry friend.

Why You and Your Dog Will Love This Recipe

Let’s face it, some dogs just aren’t big water drinkers. But adding a hint of fruity flavor can turn a boring bowl of water into a tail-wagging treat!

It’s a tasty way to keep your dog hydrated. Adding a subtle flavor from blueberries can help encourage your dog to drink more, especially during hot weather or after lots of playtime.

It’s made with just two wholesome ingredients. No sugar, no artificial flavors. Just fresh blueberries and water.

It’s full of antioxidants and natural nutrients. Blueberries are rich in vitamins and antioxidants that can support your dog’s immune system and overall health.

It’s fun for YOU too. This water smells and tastes great, so you and your pup can both enjoy it together!

Ingredients

You only need two simple ingredients to make this nutritious and refreshing drink for your dog.

  • Water – The ultimate hydrator! Use fresh, clean drinking water.
  • Fresh blueberries – These little superfruits add flavor and natural nutrients to the water.

How to Make Blueberry Water for Dogs

This recipe comes together in just a few minutes, and it’s all about letting those berries work their magic.

  1. Pour the water into a large pitcher.
  2. Place the blueberries into a zip-top plastic bag and gently press them with a rolling pin or your hand to pop them open.
  3. Add the pressed blueberries to the pitcher of water.
  4. Let the mixture sit for at least 1 hour to infuse.
  5. Before serving it to your dog, strain the water to remove all blueberry pieces to prevent any choking hazards.
  6. (Optional) You can return the strained berries to the pitcher to continue infusing flavor.

Recipe Variations

You can easily customize this recipe with flavors your dog enjoys. Try one of these fun twists:

  • Berries – Use blackberries, raspberries, or strawberries. Or mix them up for a berry medley!
  • Fresh fruit – Try apple, cantaloupe, peach, pear, pineapple, mango, or watermelon. Just be sure the fruit is safe for dogs and completely free of pits, seeds, cores, and rinds.
  • Fresh mint leaves – Add about 6 fresh mint leaves for a burst of cool, refreshing flavor.

Serving Size

You can give your dog the same amount of blueberry water as you would plain water. It’s a great way to keep them hydrated!

If it’s your dog’s first time trying infused water, start with a small amount to make sure they don’t have any sensitivities or allergies to blueberries.

How to Store the Water and How Long It Lasts

After 24 hours, strain the infused water into an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for up to 3 days.

Want to save some for later? Freeze the blueberry water! Just pour it into an ice cube tray, freeze, then transfer the cubes into a freezer-safe container or plastic bag. You can give the cubes to your pup as a frozen treat or thaw them in the fridge overnight for a chilled drink.

Can people drink this blueberry water?

Absolutely! This refreshing berry-infused water isn’t just for dogs. It’s great for humans too. Give it a try! It’s light, fruity, and totally delicious.
