Senna, A Whippet and Border Collie Mix

Dog Lover · May 24, 2018 · 1 Comment

Meet Senna. She’s a beautiful dog that’s a mix of whippet and border collie. Check out these fun facts about her as told by her human mom, Lesley.

Why did you get your dog?

Moment of weakness by my husband! He always wanted a whippet even though we already had three collies and a lurcher.

Your Dog’s Breed or Mixed

Whippet x Border Collie

How did you decide on your dog’s name?

We love following Formula One so we named her after my all-time favorite driver, Ayrton Senna. It sure does suit her, she can do the fastest lap of the field!

What is your dog’s favorite toy?

Tennis Ball

What is your dog’s favorite treat?

Cheese

How do you spoil your dog?

When she curls up ready to sleep, I get her doggy sleeping bag out and open it up for her. She loves to jump in it and snuggle up.

What’s a funny story about your dog or how does your dog make you laugh?

She always communicates in one way or another with you. The ears tell you what mood she is in, if she talks to you she wants something, the tail position or movement tells you what she is stimulated by. Or that simple stare of contentedness or unimpressed about something. She is so easy to read what she is thinking, she makes us chuckle.

How do you have fun and play with your dog?

She enjoys chasing a ball in exchange for another toy or treat. She is doing beginners flyball sport at a local club for training once a week and has started to go into starters comps in the summer months camping away for weekends. Would love for her to go swimming, but she despises water in any shape or form. So we just chill and go for long walks, playing with the rest of the gang

Is there anything special or unique about your dog? If so, what is it?

She is very in tune with your feelings. If you feel sad, she sits with you but if you are in a bad mood or anxious she does get her naughty head on, selective hearing comes into play. This makes you change your thought pattern and learn to switch off. A bit like with horses, if you mount a horse in a bad mood, the horse picks up on it too.

What else would you like to share about your dog?

Her dad won the Crufts flyball event in 2017.

Thanks Lesley for sharing the fun of your dog Senna!

I had 2 whippet border collie mix dogs. They lived to be 13. I loved those sweet babies. I am looking for a whippet border collie mix if you have any ideas on finding one, I hope you can let me know. Thanks for your time.
