Pawley, A White German Shepherd

Dog Lover · June 22, 2018 · 2 Comments

Meet Pawley. She’s a beautiful White German Shepherd. I have to be honest, I never knew there were white ones until I saw photos of her. I wondered if she was rare in color. After a quick Google search, I discovered it is not rare at all. There are many interesting things in the history of the White German Shepherd breed, including how the Nazis did not think white was an appropriate color. The Nazi party tried to erase all traces of the white coat gene. Thank goodness they did not succeed!

Check out these fun facts about her as told by her human mom, Jennifer. Scroll down to see more photos of her too.

Why did you get your dog?

Because my husband and I love dogs. We couldn’t have one while living in our apartment, but when we decided to buy a house we went on the hunt for a house and a dog.

How did you decide on your dog’s name?

We lived in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina and we thought it would be cute.

What is your dog’s favorite toy?

Anything that squeaks.

What is your dog’s favorite treat?

Anything that’s not her dog food.

How do you spoil your dog?

She is our baby. Any time we go to a store we have to get her something (toy, bone), she gets all of my pepperonis, she has to sit between us on the couch, pretty much everything we do revolves around her. We do not go anywhere (vacation) that does not allow dogs. We bought my car because we knew we would need a bigger car for her. We have our furniture arranged just so she can look outside. We give her all of our love because she gives us all of hers.

What’s a funny story about your dog or how does your dog make you laugh?

She is so silly. She is just a very happy goofy girl. She is white so any time it rains she has to find a puddle and roll around in it. Then she likes to run between your legs.

How do you have fun and play with your dog?

My husband likes to play hide and seek, she loves tug of war and anything that involves being chased. We also have two cats and it makes her so happy when they decide to play with her.

Is there anything special or unique about your dog? If so, what is it?

Everything is special about her. I’ve never met a dog that loves like she does. There is not one mean bone inside of her.

What else would you like to share about your dog?

She loves to cuddle and hold hands. She has the sweetest personality. My husband and I cannot have children and the way she loved me through that tough time (when we found out and my total hysterectomy) just made everything bearable. She is 100lbs but the most gentle dog. She is and will always be my perfect Pawley.
