Meet Moritz. He’s a sweet and happy whippet. How do I know he’s sweet and happy? Because his humom is my cousin. I got to play with Moritz a few years ago when I went to Germany to visit my family. We played fetch with one of his favorite toys. He also was with us at a restaurant for a birthday celebration. I wish it was common for dogs to be allowed in restaurants in America like it is in Germany. Perhaps one day it will happen.

Why did you get your dog?
Because I was afraid of staying alone at home.

How did you decide on your dog’s name?
If I remember correctly, Daddy came up with the name, because when we saw Moritz for the first time his little face was black and the rest of his body was beige. So, in the evening Daddy told me that maybe Moritz could be the right name for the little boy in an echo of Saint Maurice who was of indigenous African origin. And so, Moritz, the German translation of Maurice, became the name.
What is your dog’s favorite toy?
A squirrel soft-toy
What is your dog’s favorite treat?
Chicken sticks
How do you spoil your dog?
By cooking chicken hearts for him
What’s a funny story about your dog or how does your dog make you laugh?
Actually, when he lies next to me and farts, he smells it and reproachfully looks at me as if he was saying “naaaw mommy, seriously”, then stands up and lays down somewhere else.
How do you have fun and play with your dog?
We used to play hide and seek in the house, but he is getting older and doesn’t play that much anymore.
Is there anything special or unique about your dog? If so, what is it?
Sometimes he looks like a little desert fox.
