Meet Geno. He’s a happy Italian Greyhound dog. You can tell he’s much loved by looking at his photo. How adorable! He loves to go for treats and keeps his family laughing with his antics. He’s also a survivor with a strong will to live. Keep reading to see his traumatic experience.
Check out these fun facts about him as told by his human mom, Char.
Why did you get your dog?
He was a rescue dog who won our hearts by running to the toy drawer & then hopping up on my lap to play with it.
Your Dog’s Breed or Mixed
Miniature Italian Greyhound
How did you decide on your dog’s name?
We wanted an Italian name due to his breed & a name that was easy to call & teach him. He responded to it right away
What is your dog’s favorite toy?
What is your dog’s favorite treat?
Anything edible & some things that aren’t.
How do you spoil your dog?
Take him to Dairy Queen for an ice cream cone or buying him a peanut butter cookie at Chuck & Don’s.
What’s a funny story about your dog or how does your dog make you laugh?
Geno, aka The Freakshow, consistently gets him head caught under the tv stand, dog gate & coffee table. He doesn’t seem to learn not to do that
How do you have fun and play with your dog?
Geno wants to snuggle more than play. He likes to lay in the sun, so I lay with him.
Is there anything special or unique about your dog? If so, what is it?
Geno survived a rare side effect of a commonly used pain relief med for a sore leg.
It’s name is Thrombocytopenia. It caused him to bleed out of every place possible, plus internally. His throat, eyes, stomach as well. He was very, very sick. He was rushed to an emergency vet, who saved his life. 5 days in the ICU & $5,000 later he’s back being his silly self.
What else would you like to share about your dog?
Geno is missing his sidekick, Daisy who died recently of lung cancer. He’s looking for her everywhere. It’s sad to see especially when we’re grieving, too.
Many thanks to Char for sharing the fun of your sweet dog, Geno!
