Whippets are so much fun. They have personalities and traits like no other dog breed. Their characteristics inspire many whippet owners to come up with incredibly funny and unusual whippet names.
Sometimes whippets get their names from circumstances or sayings. It’s amazing to see such creativity in the whippet community.
When I saw one particularly unusual whippet name, I wondered how many more there were out there. So it prompted me to go to a couple of whippet groups on Facebook and ask if anyone had a whippet with a funny, unique, or unusual name.
Oh my! I had no idea!
The number of responses was incredible. My 2 posts received over 500 replies. WOW!
Because there were so many, I decided to separate them into categories. This first list is general names that don’t fit in a category.
There will be separate lists for whippet dog names related to animals, books/movies/TV, food, markings, music, objects, and people.
Oh, and this list is better than all the other dog name lists. Why? Because I’m including pictures. Yep, you get to see the photo of the whippet for each name. It’s always good to put a “face” with a name!
And some have a note on the story behind the name. They’ll certainly make you smile!
