Air Fryer Dog Treats Recipe Ingredients
Here’s what you need to make the treats and a little about each one:
- Oat Flour – A gentle, grain-based flour that forms the base of the dough. Great for dogs with sensitive stomachs.
- Baking Soda – Helps the treats puff up just a little for a perfect texture.
- Apple – Adds flavor, fiber, and natural sweetness.
- Applesauce – Adds moisture and a subtle apple flavor.
- Banana – Naturally sweet and full of potassium, bananas are a dog favorite.
- Coconut Oil – Adds healthy fats and gives the dough a smooth consistency.
- Egg – Binds the ingredients together and adds protein.
If you want to top them with icing, you’ll need:
- Greek Yogurt – Tangy and full of protein, it makes a creamy base for the frosting.
- Peanut Butter – Rich, nutty, and loved by dogs!

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions
This recipe is super adaptable, so if you’re missing something or need a swap, here’s what you can do:
First and foremost, always check your peanut butter label. It must be free of xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
You can substitute peanut butter with almond butter or sunflower seed butter, just make sure they’re also unsweetened and xylitol-free.
No ripe bananas on hand? No worries! You can use plain pumpkin puree instead.
And if you don’t have oat flour on hand, you can make your own by blending rolled oats in a blender or food processor until they reach a flour-like consistency. 1 cup of oats makes about ¾ cup of oat flour.
Equipment Needed
You probably have most of the kitchen items you need to make these treats. There are key ones – an Air Fryer and a Silicone Paw Print Mold that fits in your air fryer basket or air fryer tray.

- In a large bowl, mix together the egg, applesauce, mashed banana, coconut oil, and chopped apple.
- Add the wet ingredients mixture to the flour mixture.
- Mix until well combined. If the batter seems dry, add a small amount of water and continue mixing.
- Spoon the batter into a silicone mold.
- Place the mold in your air fryer basket.
- Air fry at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes.
- Transfer the air-fried treats to a wire rack to cool.
- Spread peanut butter or Greek yogurt (or a mixture of them) on top of the treats. You can also crumble a dog treat to use as a topping on the icing.

Recipe Tips
Making dog treats in an air fryer is super easy, but here are a few handy tips to get the best results:
- Use a silicone mold that fits your air fryer basket, it keeps the dough in place and makes cleanup easy.
- Finely chop the apple so it blends evenly into the dough.
- If the dough is too crumbly, add a little extra applesauce or a splash of water to help it hold together.
- Let the treats cool completely before adding icing. Otherwise, it will melt right off.
- Want extra-crunchy treats? Air fry for a minute or two longer, just keep an eye on them.
Serving Size
Treats should make up no more than 10% of your dog’s daily calorie intake to maintain a healthy, balanced diet.
If your dog hasn’t had banana, apple, or peanut butter before, start with one treat to check for any sensitivities. As always, chat with your vet if you’re unsure about how much is safe for your specific pup.

How to Store the Treats and How Long They Last
How you store these air-fried treats depends on whether or not you added icing:
- With icing: Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container. The yogurt needs to stay cold, and the treats will keep for up to 5 days. Just note the yogurt may absorb into the treat the longer they sit.
- Without icing: Store in an airtight container at room temperature. They’ll stay fresh for up to 1 week.
- Freezing: You can freeze the treats (with or without icing) for up to 3 months. Just thaw before serving.
Can people eat these dog treats?
Yep! These treats are totally safe for humans. There’s no added sugar or weird stuff, so they’re great if you’re watching your sugar intake. That said, they’re made for dogs, so they’ll taste a little plain. But give one a nibble and see what you think!
