Banana popsicles are a creamy frozen treat made with simple ingredients that dogs love. These homemade popsicles are fruity, refreshing, and perfect for helping your pup cool down on a warm day.

What makes these popsicles extra fun is the edible stick. Instead of using wooden or plastic sticks, these frozen treats use dog treat munchy sticks so every part of the popsicle can be enjoyed. They’re easy to make and are a fun way to spoil your dog during the summer.

Ingredients and What They Bring to the Popsicles

These homemade dog popsicles use simple ingredients that blend together into a creamy frozen treat. This is what you’ll need:

  • Bananas – Add natural sweetness and create a creamy texture when blended.
  • Plain Greek yogurt – Adds creaminess and protein while helping the popsicles freeze smoothly.
  • Water – Helps thin the mixture if needed for blending.
  • Dog treat munchy sticks – Act as edible popsicle sticks that dogs can safely chew and eat.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions

When making these treats, there are some simple swaps and additions you can make.

  • Banana – Mango can be substituted for a similar creamy consistency.
  • Yogurt – You can use low-fat cottage cheese or coconut milk instead of yogurt.
  • Fruit Combo – Substitute chopped banana with blueberries, peaches, pineapple, raspberries, or strawberries.
  • Fiber Boost – Add 1 teaspoon of ground chia seeds or flaxseed.

Other Edible Popsicle Sticks for Dogs

Don’t want to use munchy sticks? No problem! Try any of these:

  • Bully sticks
  • Chicken jerky
  • Venison jerky
  • Veggies such as carrots, celery, green beans, or parsnips

How to Make Banana Popsicles for Dogs

Making these frozen dog treats is simple and only takes a few steps.

  1. Place 1½ bananas and the Greek yogurt into a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.
  2. Add a small amount of water if needed to help the mixture blend.
  3. Cut the remaining ½ banana into small pieces and stir them into the blended mixture.
  4. Spoon or pour the mixture into popsicle molds until full.
  5. Insert the dog treat munchy sticks into the molds.
  6. Place the molds in the freezer for about 3 hours, or until frozen solid.
  7. Remove the popsicles from the molds and serve.

Smaller Popsicles or Frozen Treats

These treats are easy to adapt into smaller frozen snacks for dogs of all sizes.

  • Small Popsicles – Use ice cube trays instead of popsicle molds and cut the munchy sticks in half.
  • Frozen Treats – Pour the mixture into silicone molds to make bite-sized frozen treats.

How to Store the Popsicles and How Long They Last

Place the popsicles in a plastic freezer bag or freezer-safe container and store them in the freezer. They will last up to 3 months.

Can people eat these popsicles?

Oh yes, they sure can – depending on the stick! The popsicle mixture itself is made with simple ingredients that are perfectly fine for people. If you want to enjoy one too, just pour some into separate molds with reusable or wooden popsicle sticks and dig in!
