Homemade shepherd’s pie with beef aka cottage pie is a tasty meal for your dog.

Ingredients
5mediumpotatoes
1cupunsalted beef or chicken brothwithout onions or garlic
1poundlean ground beef
1/2cupunsalted canned green peasdrained
1/2cupunsalted canned sliced carrotsdrained
2tablespoonsrice flour
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Peel and chop potatoes. Place them in a pot and add enough water to cover them. Bring them to a boil and then reduce heat to medium and cook until fork-tender and soft. Drain and place them back in the pot or in a bowl.
Add 2 tablespoons of broth and mash the potatoes with a potato masher or mixer.
Brown ground beef in a skillet. Drain and return the beef to the skillet.
Add peas, carrots, rice flour, and remaining broth and combine well.
Place the ground beef mixture in a pie plate and spread it evenly. Spoon the mashed potatoes over the top and spread it evenly.
Bake for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are lightly browned on top.
Allow to cool completely before serving.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Notes
Homemade broth is best. Simmer beef or chicken with bones in water for 3 to 6 hours. Or in a slow cooker on low for 12 to 24 hours or Instant Pot on HIGH for 1 hour.
