1largeSweet Potato
1Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
Instructions
Peel and slice the sweet potato into thin, long strips like fries.
Slice the chicken into thin strips about ¼-inch thick.
Wrap chicken strips around sweet potato strips in a single layer going from one end to the other.
Dehydrator Preparation
Place the chicken wrapped sweet potato strips on the dehydrator tray.
Dehydrate at 150°F for 5 to 6 hours or until there is no sign of moisture present with broken apart.
To get the treats to 165°F to kill harmful bacteria, bake the dehydrated treats in a 275°F oven for about 10 minutes. Place the treats on a baking sheet with space between them and bake them.
Oven Preparation
Preheat oven to 180°F.
Place the chicken wrapped sweet potato strips on a parchment paper lined or greased cookie sheet.
Place it in oven and slightly prop the door open. Dehydrate for 3 to 4 hours or until there is no sign of moisture present with broken apart.
Notes
If you partially freeze the chicken breast (about 15 minutes) it is easier to thinly slice. How long it takes to dehydrate the treats can range from 3 to 6 hours, depending on the method (dehydrator or oven) and the thickness of the sweet potato and chicken slices.
