This homemade blueberry pie for dogs has an oat flour crust and creamy blueberry filling. It's a fun and wholesome dessert for celebrating your pup’s birthday, Gotcha Day, or any special occasion.
Prepare the crust: In a mixing bowl, combine oat flour, applesauce, and egg.
Place approximately 2 tablespoons of crust mixture into 4 of the cups in a jumbo muffin pan.
Use a small spoon to press down the center of the dough and up around the sides to form a shallow well.
Bake crusts for 15-18 minutes. Then remove from oven and cool completely.
Remove the crusts from the pan and place them on a plate.
Prepare the filling: Spoon the solid coconut cream from the can of coconut milk. Do not use the liquid.
Place coconut cream, frozen blueberries, and bananas in a blender. You may need to add a tiny amount of water to make the mixture blend better. Don’t add too much because you want it to be thick.
Once blended, spoon about two tablespoons of filling into each crust. Place the pies in the freezer for 30 minutes to set.
If desired, garnish with fresh blueberries and/or a small dollop of plain Greek yogurt.
Store the pies in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze them for up to 3 months.
Notes
To prepare the coconut milk, don’t shake the can and leave it sitting for at least one day to allow the cream and liquid to separate. The cream should rise to the top.
