Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger

Instructions

Oven

  • Preheat oven to 170°F, or as low as it will go. Line a baking sheet with parchment or a silicone mat.
  • Slice bananas into 1/4 inch pieces. Place the slices in a single layer on the lined baking sheet. Sprinkle lightly with ground ginger.
  • Bake for 2-3 hours or until desired crispness, turning them over halfway through.

Air Fryer

  • Slice bananas into 1/4 inch pieces and sprinkle lightly with ground ginger.
  • Place on a lined air fryer sheet or in the bottom of the air fryer basket with space between. You may have to do this in batches.
  • Air fry at 150°F or use the 'dehydrate' setting for 5-8 hours, until desired crispness, turning them over halfway through.

Dehydrator

  • Slice bananas into 1/4 inch pieces and sprinkle lightly with ground ginger.
  • Place on a dehydrator tray and dehydrate at 135°F (57°C) for 6 to 12 hours, until desired crispness.

Notes

Banana chips can be either chewy or crispy, depending on how long they dry. A shorter time leaves some moisture and creates chewier chips. Longer drying times remove more moisture and make them crispier.
