Ingredients
¼cupTurmeric Powder
1cupWater
¼cupCoconut Oil
1½teaspoonsFresh Ground Black Pepper
Instructions
Add water and turmeric to a pan over medium-high heat and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until a paste forms, about 20 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes. You want it to be warm but not hot.
Stir in coconut oil and black pepper until well combined. Cool it to room temperature.
Transfer the paste to an airtight container.
Store golden paste in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
You can freeze it for up to 4 months.
Notes
It is important to use freshly ground black pepper. Do not use pre-ground pepper because the active ingredient (piperine) is oxidized and degraded when exposed to light and air.Turmeric will stain wooden spoons, kitchen tools, and linens. Be careful with what you use to make and clean up after making Golden Paste.
