These little bites of bliss are more than just delicious, they’re packed with wholesome ingredients and perfect for all kinds of pups.

They are the most coconutty dog treats ever! Seriously, they’re a coconut lover’s dream. You’ve got coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut flour, AND coconut flakes in the mix. It doesn’t get more tropical than that!

They’re easy to make. No baking required. All you have to do is mix, shape, roll, and refrigerate. Done in minutes!

Simple ingredients, nothing questionable. When you make your own dog treats, you know exactly what’s going in them. There are no mystery additives or weird preservatives.

Customizable for food sensitivities. If your dog has allergies, you can easily make substitutions to keep them safe and happy.

They’re vegan. A great option for dogs on a plant-based diet or for anyone who prefers to keep meat and dairy out of treats.

Soft and gentle for sensitive mouths. These are perfect for senior dogs, pups with dental issues, or younger dogs who need a soft training treat.

Perfect for hiding pills. Got a pup who’s a pill-detecting pro? These treats are great for sneaking meds, they’re like homemade doggy pill pockets that actually taste good!

Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to whip up a batch of these no bake coconut dog treats:

  • Melted coconut oil – Adds healthy fats and helps hold everything together.
  • Coconut milk – Adds moisture and even more coconut flavor.
  • Peanut butter – A creamy, flavorful addition most dogs adore.
  • Coconut flour – Adds fiber and a rich coconut taste while helping the dough hold its shape.
  • Oat flour – A soft, gluten-free flour that helps bind the dough and makes it easier to digest.
  • Unsweetened coconut flakes – Rolled on the outside for that extra coconut crunch and fun texture.

Ingredient Notes and Substitutions

Need to switch things up? Here are some quick tips and helpful swaps:

No xylitol ever! Always double-check that your peanut butter does not contain xylitol because it’s toxic to dogs.

Peanut-free version? Try almond butter or sunflower seed butter instead. Just make sure they’re dog-safe and xylitol-free.

DIY oat flour: Toss uncooked old-fashioned oats into a food processor or blender and blend until it looks like flour. One cup of oats makes about ¾ cup flour.

Avoid all-purpose or whole wheat flour in this recipe, the texture just isn’t right for a no bake treat like this.

How to Make Coconut Dog Treats

Making these treats is so easy, you’ll be done before your pup even realizes what’s happening in the kitchen. Here’s what to do:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the melted coconut oil, coconut milk, and peanut butter. Stir until smooth and well blended.
  2. Add the oat flour and coconut flour to the bowl and mix thoroughly until a soft dough forms.
  3. Roll the dough into balls about 1 to 2 inches thick.
  4. Roll each ball in the unsweetened coconut flakes to coat.
  5. You can leave them as is or press them gently with a fork to make them look like cookies.

Recipe Notes and Variations

Want to get a little fancy? Here are a couple of fun options:

Use a silicone mold to make shaped treats. Just press the dough into the mold, chill, and pop them out!

Want a little toasty flair? Toast the coconut flakes before rolling. Spread them out on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 325°F for about 5 minutes. Keep a close eye on them so they don’t burn.

Serving Size

Treats should make up no more than 10% of your dog’s daily caloric intake to maintain a balanced diet. If you’re not sure how many is too many, your vet can help.

If your dog hasn’t had any of the ingredients before, start with a small one and monitor for any signs of sensitivity.

How to Store the Treats and How Long They Last

These treats are soft and made with fresh ingredients, so they do need to be stored properly:

  • Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container or zip-top bag in the fridge. They’ll stay fresh for up to 5 days.
  • Freezer: Want to make a bigger batch? Freeze them! Lay them on a tray so they don’t touch, freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag or container. They’ll keep for up to 3 months.

Can people eat these coconut treats?

Yes! Every ingredient is safe for humans. If you love coconut, you might really enjoy them. They’re low in sugar and naturally flavored, so go ahead and give one a taste (just don’t eat the whole batch before your dog gets a chance).
